CARING FOR YOUR NATURAL TEAK FURNITURE

RitzLane's Natural Teak showcases the beautiful grain of solid teak wood. Each piece may have slight variations in color and grain due to the natural characteristics of the wood.

Over time, Natural Teak will develop a lovely silver-grey color as it weathers. This process depends on factors like climate and exposure to the elements.

Sealed Natural Teak has a protective coating. It's important to re-seal it annually to maintain its original finish. If left untreated, it will develop a silver-grey patina.

Teak wood expands and contracts with changes in climate, which may cause small cracks. However, this doesn't affect the furniture's strength.

Using our custom-fit outdoor covers is recommended to protect the furniture and prevent aging from the elements.

Avoid leaving water sitting on the surface of furniture and cushions.

Use custom furniture covers when items are not in use.

Make sure both the furniture and cushions are clean and dry before covering them.

If possible, remove cushions before covering the frames for extended periods to prevent mold and mildew.

If cushions get wet, prop them on their sides with the zipper down and unzipped to ensure all water drains out.

CARING FOR YOUR WEATHERED TEAK & AGED TEAK FURNITURE

Teak's dense nature and high oil content make it ideal for outdoor use, naturally resisting rot, fungus, termites, and pests.

Our Weathered Teak finish involves distressing the teak with a wire brush and applying multiple layers of paint for a weathered appearance. Similarly, our Aged Teak finish includes light wire-brushing followed by layers of pigment and sealant to mimic the natural weathered tones of exposed wood, celebrating its character.

Teak's expansion and contraction with climate changes may cause hairline cracks in joints or the wood grain, but this doesn't compromise the frame's structural integrity.

Moisture can lead to hairline cracks in both teak and painted finishes due to natural expansion and contraction.

Like any painted finish, our Weathered Teak and Aged Teak finishes will fade and wear over time when exposed to the elements. This exposes the natural teak underneath, which gradually turns grey.

Using custom-fit outdoor covers is strongly recommended to protect furniture from the elements and slow down the aging process.

Perennials®, Sunbrella®, Agora and Performance Textured Weave fabrics are made of 100% solution-dyed acrylic, offering excellent resistance to water, stains, mildew, and fading, making them low-maintenance and suitable for outdoor use.

Over time, Perennials® fabrics may develop pilling, which is a natural characteristic and doesn't indicate a defect. Using a fabric shaver can easily remove raised fibers, restoring a smoother appearance without compromising the fabric's integrity.

While our outdoor upholstery fabrics are resistant to mildew, it's important to prevent the buildup of mold and mildew by removing wet cushions from furniture frames and regularly cleaning and maintaining them.
